What is IPO?
An IPO, or Initial Public Offering, in the share market is when a company decides to sell its shares to the public for the first time. Before an IPO, the company is usually private, meaning only a few investors or owners own the company’s shares. When a company goes through an IPO, it offers a portion of its ownership to the public, allowing anyone to buy shares and become a part-owner of the company. This process provides the company with capital (money) to grow and expand its business, and it also gives investors a chance to invest in the company’s potential growth.
